CHILDREN OF HOPE
Nyers and Maude sat quietly at the edge of Neotokyo, overlooking the wasteland of abandoned ideas and memories that surrounded the city.
Nyers, breaking the stillness, turned to Maude with a mix of curiosity and empathy in his eyes. Maude, I never knew... It must have been incredibly hard for you.
Maude sighed softly, her gaze fixed on the horizon. When I was young, she was there... but she drifted away. Joined Neurogenesis, became obsessed with her work. It was like I lost her long before what happened to NeoTokyo. And then... finding out she was responsible for it all...
Nyers nodded solemnly, grasping the weight of Maude's revelation.
I thought I was alone, she continued, with a mix of sorrow and relief. But it feels good to know someone understands.
Nyers placed a reassuring hand on Maude's shoulder. We've both been through hell. Maybe that's why we get each other in ways no one else does.
A faint smile tugged at Maude's lips as she turned to Nyers, her eyes reflecting the gratitude she felt. You've always been the calm in the storm, Nyers. Your determination to keep going, no matter what... it's a great trait to have.
Nyers chuckled softly, a hint of self-deprecation in his voice. Maude, let's be real here. You're the one that got us through this. I mean, look at you—the way you rule over technology... You're at the top of the game.
They fell into a comfortable silence, the sun shining on them as they contemplated the future stretching out before them. I see a bright future for us, Maude, Nyers said with calm hope.
Maude nodded, her expression one of quiet determination. We make a good team, don't we? Despite everything, we've always had each other's backs.
We always will, Nyers affirmed, letting the words be carried in the wind, as a message for the future.
